Brent Jordan of Banks, Ala., is the winner of a Yamaha four-wheeler awarded as first prize in the Outdoor Alabama Sweepstakes. The sweepstakes was conducted by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) on its Website, The Yamaha Grizzly 350 four-wheeler, valued at $6,650, was donated by the Montgomery Yamaha dealership and Yamaha Motors.

Jordan, who is an avid hunter, picked up the four-wheeler from the Montgomery dealership with great enthusiasm. “I’ve never won anything before,” he said. “I like coon hunting, so I plan to put a box on the back for my hounds.” Jordan said he will also be using the four-wheeler during the next deer hunting season, an activity he looks forward to every year. “I’ve been hunting since I was 6 years old,” he said.

Conservation Commissioner N. Gunter Guy Jr. created the sweepstakes to add some excitement to the hunting and fishing license-buying process. “I thought this would be a great way to promote online interaction with hunters and anglers. Many of them don’t know that you can purchase a license online from a home computer or, for those who have Internet access, on a mobile phone.” Purchasing a license was not a requirement to enter the sweepstakes.

Gerald Smith, vice president of the Montgomery Honda Yamaha dealership, said he and General Manager David Huneycutt were pleased to partner with Yamaha Motors and ADCNR to provide the four-wheeler for the sweepstakes. “We wanted to do something to stay active in the community,” he said. “A lot of our business is from hunters.”

Also partnering in the sweepstakes was Academy Sports + Outdoors, who provided additional prizes for the sweepstakes.

Guy said the sweepstakes will return next year. “We’re gearing up to have another great giveaway, so I encourage people to visit and watch for the details.”
