Invasive Aquatic Weeds

Understanding Invasive Aquatic Weeds Booklet

I am sorry, we may be out of these booklets, but they are available online at www.apms.org/activity.htm.

These 8-1/2" X 11" booklets are available to Alabama teachers to help their students learn about invasive aquatic weeds.  The Aquatic Plant Management Society, Inc. booklet is supposed to be for grades 4-7.  Though the activities certainly are for that age group, the material would be appropriate for environmental science or advanced biology.  The pictures are excellent.

Understanding Invasive Aquatic Weeds looks at aquatic native and exotic, invasive species of plants.  Prevention and management of problems are discussed.  The booklet describes hydrilla, water hyacinth, purple loosestrife, Eurasian watermilfoil, and giant salvinia plants, and the problem they cause.

Copies of the booklet can be sent to teachers or students by mail.  Contact Doug Darr about their availability.  The booklet is published by the Aquatic Plant Management Society, Inc. and is also available on-line at www.apms.org/activity.htm.
