Fish surveys in Alabama show that bluegill are found in more locations than any other fish species.  Bluegill are insectivores; but they will also eat worms, other invertebrates and small fish.

Many of Alabama's ponds and Alabama State Public Fishing Lakes are managed for excellent bluegill fishing.  Large bluegill are also caught in many of Alabama's reservoirs and also below their dams.

Ernest Pattillo catches a fine bluegill on a popping bug below one of Alabama's dams during June.
