Banded - The largest and most widespread pygmy sunfish in Alabama.
Everglades - The Everglades pygmy sunfish is distinquished from other Elassoma species because it has embedded scales on the top of its head.
Spring - Once thought to be extinct, the spring pygmy sunfish only lives in the Highland Rim region of north Alabama.
