Buffalo

Bigmouth - The largest Alabama sucker, the bigmouth buffalo has a relatively large head; its eye is small relative to other buffalo, and the eye is located closer to the tip of the snout than to the rear of the operculum.

Black - The mouth on the black buffalo is located just beneath the front end of the snout, and it is slightly oblique; the mouth on the smallmouth buffalo is located in a more posterior position, and it is nearly horizontal.

Smallmouth - The smallmouth buffalo is a deep-bodied sucker; its maximum depth goes 2.7 or fewer times into its standard length. Its mouth is small and horizontal, with a distinctly grooved upper lip.
