Carpsucker

Highfin - The highfin carpsucker is named for its elongate anterior dorsal fin rays, which when depressed are almost as long as the dorsal fin base.

Quillback - The quillback is a carpsucker that lacks a nipple-shaped projection on the front of the lower lip, and the rear edge of the mouth fails to reach the anterior edge of the eye.

River - The river carpsucker is the largest carpsucker species in Alabama; on river carpsuckers, the anterior dorsal fin rays are only about half as long as the dorsal fin base.
