Purple Toothcup

Scientific Name: Ammannia coccinea

Distinguishing Characteristics:
•Erect plant usually with single stem, but can have branching in larger specimens; stem is square in cross-section.
•Leaves oppostie and lanceolate in shape and are typically held at right angles to stem; each pair of leaves are often arranged at right angles to the pair above or below them.
Flowers: small, purple and originate at base of leaf near stem.
