Scientific Name: Hydrolea quadrivalvis  

Distinguishing Characteristics:
•Leaves alternate with rough margins.
•Stiff thorns and blue flowers in leaf axis.
•Stems have fine hairs.
•Usually grows in isolated clumps along shoreline, but can eventually surround shoreline. Appearance and growth habit very similar to Polygonum spp.
