Yellow Flag

Scientific Name: Iris pseudacorus

Distinguishing Characteristics:
Large plant growing 4 to 6 feet tall.
Leaf blades in clusters similar to Typha and arising from the soil in a fan-like fashion.
The leaf midrib is slightly raised.
Showy yellow flower with drooping sepals
Grows along margins in clumps and may grow out to 2 feet of water. Plant lays dormant in winter, turning brown and can completely ring the shoreline of a pond in a few years if not controlled.
