Sphagnum Moss

Scientific Name: Sphagnum spp.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

•Delicate plant with clusters of tiny slightly-toothed leaves; usually no taller than 2 or 3 inches.
•Usually found growing patches in moist soil and boggy areas, but can form dense, floating mats.
•Usually found in relatively acidic soil.
