Wild Rice

Scientific Name: Zizania aquatica

Distinguishing Characteristics:
•Very big grass growing 4 to 9 feet tall
•Leaf blades up to 4 feet long, 2 inches wide and serrated.
•Seedhead: large and arranged loosely with spreading branches and branchlets.
•Found growing in dense clumps or band around shoreline; found in dense colonies along the coast.
