Variable-leaf Pondweed Scientific Name: Potamogeton diversifolius
Distinguishing Characteristics:
•2 leaf forms: surface leaves are oval, about 1 to 2 inches long and opposite; subsurface leaves are thin, ribbon-like and alternate; stem often forks.
•If surface leaves not present, it appears like Najas guadalupensis; however, subsurface pondweed leaves are longer and more ribbon-like.
