Applications for Fish Pond Stocking
Owners of new or renovated ponds may apply now to stock their ponds with largemouth bass and bream (bluegill and shellcracker). The Fisheries Section of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division will stock ponds that contain no fish and are larger than 1/4 surface acre (1/2 surface acre if pond is not to be fertilized). Stan Cook, Chief of Fisheries, advises pond owners to request their fish application early and return the application before the February 1 deadline. There is a fee.
