The certified redeye bass record for Lake Martin is 2-pounds, 11-ounces. We are still looking to certify lake record largemouth bass (8-pound minimum) and spotted bass (4-pound minimum). We also have an angler recognition program for other sport fish.

Roger Brown often uses a 1/4 oz. white spinnerbait to take spots out of brush piles during the winter.

Striped bass are active at Lake Martin during the winter. The regulation on temporate bass reads, "It is illegal to possess more than two white bass, yellow bass, saltwater striped bass and hybrids or combinations that are over 16 inches in total length in the daily creel limit." Though up to 30 total may be kept, biologist recommend that small striped bass be released.

Matthew Williamson shows that, though Lake Martin may be known for large numbers of spotted bass, Lake Martin can produce big spots over six pounds. This spotted bass hit a 4-inch green pumpkin dead ringer Zoom worm with the tail dipped in chartreuse garlic lure coloring during late March of 2006. |
