Eastern Wild Turkey Seminar

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System will conduct a seminar on wild turkey biology and management on February 7, 8 a.m.- 4:15 p.m. The seminar will be held at the Autauga County Extension Office located at 2226 Hwy 14 W, Autaugaville, AL.

Speakers will include representatives from the AL Cooperative Extension System, AL Dept. of Conservation & Natural Resources, AL Wildlife Federation, Auburn University School of Forestry & Wildlife Sciences, National Wild Turkey Federation, and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Attendees will learn how to increase wild turkeys through land management. Topics that will be covered include managing pines, managing hardwoods, managing agricultural land, using financial assistance programs, supplemental plantings, and how predators affect wild turkey populations.

 At the conclusion of the seminar, there will be a field trip to Gray Rocks Ranch in Autaugaville. The program is open to the public. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.

Pre-registration is required and there is a $15 registration fee. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. The registration deadline is January 31.
