Freshwater License Applications-Recreational & Commercial

Recreational

COMMERCIAL FOWL HUNTING PRESERVE TRIP (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows a resident age 16 - 64 and nonresident age 16 and over to hunt on a licensed commercial fowl hunting preserve for seven consecutive days with no other license required.

DUCK STAMP (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows a resident age 16 - 64 and nonresident age 16 and over to hunt migratory waterfowl within Alabama and its coastal waters.  Appropriate hunting license and HIP stamp also required.  Stamp is issued electronically.  Expires August 31.

FISHING - DISABLED (Resident):  Allows a totally disabled resident age 16 - 64 to fish the saltwaters and freshwaters of Alabama during their period of total disability.  After application is completed by physician, visit your local probate office for license issuance.

FISHING - DISABLED MILITARY VETERAN'S APPRECIATION (Resident):  Allows a resident age 16 - 64 to fish the freshwaters of Alabama.  Must be certified by the U.S. Veterans Administration to be 20% or more disabled.  Present VA certification letter to your local probate office.  Expires August 31.

FISHING - FRESHWATER (Resident):  Allows a resident age 16 - 63 to fish the freshwaters of Alabama.  Includes the Wildlife Heritage privileges.  Expires August 31.  No trip licenses available.

FISHING - FRESHWATER (Nonresident):  Allows a nonresident age 16 and over to fish the freshwaters of Alabama.  Due to reciprocal agreements, special prices apply to residents of Louisiana and Mississippi.  Annual licenses expire August 31.   Seven day trip licenses available.

FISHING - SALTWATER (Resident):  Allows a resident age 16 - 63 to fish the saltwaters of Alabama.  Annual licenses expire August 31.  Seven day trip licenses available.

FISHING - SALTWATER (Nonresident):  Allows a nonresident age 16 and over to fish the saltwaters of Alabama.  Due to reciprocal agreements, special prices apply to residents of Louisiana.  Annual licenses expire August 31.  Seven day trip licenses available. 

HUNTING (Resident):  Allows a resident age 16 - 63 to hunt all legal game within Alabama.  All-Game license required for deer or turkey.  Includes the Wildlife Heritage privileges.  Expires August 31.  No trip licenses available.

HUNTING (Nonresident):  Allows a nonresident age 16 and over to hunt all legal game within Alabama.  All-Game license required for deer or turkey.  Annual licenses expire August 31.  Ten day and three day trip licenses available.

LIFETIME (Resident):  Allows a resident (any age) to purchase lifetime privileges.  Applicant will select from the following privileges:  freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing, hunting (all game), and wildlife heritage.

64 LIFETIME (Resident):  Allows a resident age 64 to purchase lifetime license privileges for the cost of the regular annual license.  Applicant will select from the following privileges:  freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing, all game hunting, small game hunting or wildlife heritage license.

SPEARFISHING (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows residents age 16 - 64 and nonresidents age 16 and over to spear commercial or nongame fish in freshwater and saltwater completedly submerged.  Freshwater and/or saltwater fishing license also required.  Annual licenses expire August 31.  Nonresident seven day trip licenses available.

WILDLIFE HERITAGE (Resident):  Allows residents age 16 - 63 to fish in freshwater statewide with hook and line from the bank, fish in WFF operated Public Fishing Lakes (daily lake permits required), hunt small game (except waterfowl) on WFF WMA (WMA permit required), shoot on WFF managed shooting ranges and support wildlife.  Expires August 31.

WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows residents age 16 - 64 and nonresidents age 16 and over to hunt big game (deer or turkey) and waterfowl on WMA, in addition to the appropriate hunting license and WMA map/permit (free).  Shooting range users on WMA are required to have a valid hunting license, WMA license or Wildlife Heritage license.  Expires August 31.

WIREBASKET (Resident):  Allows a resident (any age) to catch non-game fish in public freshwaters for personal comsumption.  Prices per basket vary depending on county.  Typically, minimum of 4 baskets, but not allowed in all counties.

Commercial

ALLIGATOR FARMER (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows applicant (any age) to engage in business of raising alligators for restocking, propogation and other commercial purposes.  Expires September 30.

ALLIGATOR PARTS DEALER (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows applicant (any age) to deal in alligator parts and to buy parts from an alligator farmer for the purpose of reselling or manufacturing.  Expires September 30.

ALLIGATOR RETAIL (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows applicant (any age) to purchase alligator parts and sell canned alligator parts.  Allows restaurants to sell alligator meat for consumption.  Expires September 30.

COMMERCIAL QUAIL BREEDER (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows applicant (any age) to engage in the business of propagating pen-raised quail for restocking and other commercial purposes.  Expires September 30.

DOG TRAINER (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows applicant (any age) to engage in the business of training dogs for hunting or field trial purposes for remuneration or profit.  Expires September 30.

FISH DEALER - FRESHWATER NON-GAME RETAIL / WHOLESALE (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows applicant (any age) to sell non-game fish taken from public waters, live or dead.  Expires September 30.

GAME BREEDER (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows applicants (any age) to engage in the business of raising and selling game birds, game or fur bearing animals or eggs of such birds for propagation purposes.  Expires September 30.

PROPAGATION (Resident and Nonresident):  Allows applicant (any age) owning property in the state to raise game, game birds or fur bearing animals for the exclusive purpose of stocking private or protected lands under the control of the permit holder.  Expires September 30.
