Bibb County Lake Open Weekends This Winter

December 12, 2013

Bibb County Lake near Centreville, Alabama will be open during daylight hours Friday through Sunday in December 2013 and January 2014. In March 2013, the lake facilities were renovated and the lake was restocked by the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) to provide an improved fishing experience.
“Winter is often a great time to catch crappie and larger bass, but the lake also offers channel catfish and bream,” said Jay Haffner, WFF District III Fisheries Supervisor. “After the improvements and restocking, the fishing at Bibb County Lake should be good this winter.”
Bibb County Lake is a 100-acre lake located north of Centreville off Alabama Highway 5 in Walter Owens Park. From Centreville at U.S. Highway 82, take Alabama Highway 5 north for 7.5 miles, and then take a left on Fishing Lake Road.
Bibb County Lake amenities include mowed areas along the shoreline for bank fishing, fishing piers, a boat ramp, and boat rentals. A concession building also offers drinks, snacks, restrooms, bait and tackle. The lake will return to its regular fishing season schedule on February 1, 2014. WFF stocks and manages the Alabama State Public Fishing Lakes for optimum fishing. The lakes are fertilized for maximum fish production, and fishing piers allow anglers to fish deeper water in a comfortable environment. Located throughout Alabama, a complete list of state lakes can found in the fishing section of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources website, www.outdooralabama.com
The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Parks, State Lands, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries.
