DESOTO RESORT STATE PARK CAMPGROUND CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS

CONTACT: State Parks at 1-800-ALA-PARK
As part of the continued $100 million Alabama State Park refurbishing project statewide, the campground at DeSoto Resort State Park has been closed for extensive renovations. Campsites in the northeast Alabama park will be increased, enlarged, and upgraded to include full, 50-amp hookups and cable. Parking pads at the 94 new sites (78 sites currently) will be made larger to accommodate Recreation Vehicles (RV) with slide outs. Additionally, two new bathhouses will be constructed along with a concession area and laundry facility.
The cost of the six-month project is $2.3 million. Alabama State Parks Director Mark Easterwood is glad the project is underway at one of the state’s six resort parks. “We found that it would be more cost effective to close the entire campground for the six-month construction project while the overall refurbishing is being done,” said Easterwood. “When the campground opens back up this fall, campers will enjoy brand-new facilities that will offer more of a variety of camping and RV needs nestled within beautiful outdoor surroundings.”
