Dove Field Management Seminar August 28 in Cullman
August 07, 2008
A dove field management seminar is scheduled at Camp Meadowbrook in Cullman, Ala., on Thursday, August 28, 2008, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Dove Field Management: For Recreation and Farm Income Diversification” is sponsored by the Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation in cooperation with the North Alabama Horticulture Research Center and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
This seminar will feature talks from several professional wildlife managers and agronomists on topics such as dove ecology, how to plant a dove field, managing harvest, field preparation and the law, liability issues, and opportunities for diversifying farm income through leasing. After the indoor session at Camp Meadowbrook, the workshop will visit the North Alabama Horticulture Research Center for lunch and a tour of the Center’s dove fields to learn the “ins and outs” of how to establish a dove field. Participants will also learn how to calibrate seed drills and spreaders and how to take soil samples properly.
The cost for “Dove Field Management” is $10 per adult and free for children, but they must be registered. Participants are asked to register by August 25, as space is limited. Registration includes coffee and donuts, lunch and handouts.
To register, contact Kelly Knowles at 334-844-1010; email@example.com. For more information about this seminar, contact Stuart Goldsby at 256-737-8732; firstname.lastname@example.org.
