Guntersville State Park Renovations Finished

After more than $25 million in renovations that took nearly 4 years to complete, Lake Guntersville State Park's lodge is ready for guests again. Located on a densely wooded mountaintop overlooking Guntersville Lake and the park's 6,000 acres of woodlands, the lodge opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, January 2.

Lake Guntersville State Park is located in the Tennessee Valley. Overlooking the majestic 69,000-acre Guntersville Reservoir, it ranges over 6,000 acres of natural woodlands. The park has an 18-hole championship golf course, a beach complex, fishing center, hiking trails, nature programs and a day-use area. Modern campground and lakeview cottages on the lake, coupled with a resort lodge on the pinnacle of Taylor Mountain, and chalets on the ridge-tops, provide a selection of overnight accommodations beyond comparison.

Eagle Awareness Month

Bald Eagle Awareness weekends are going on all this month at Lake Guntersville State Park, continuing a 20-year bald eagle winter viewing tradition at the park.

The weekends educate nature lovers about protecting our most valuable treasure, our wildlife, especially bald eagles and their habitat.

See this great national bird winter in the Guntersville area, with guided interpretive programs to nesting sites in early mornings and afternoons, fireside chats, and fine dining at Guntersville State Park's Pinecrest Dining Room.

Hunters Helping the Hungry

Alabama hunters again have the opportunity to help others while they enjoy their outdoor pursuits. The Hunters Helping the Hungry program provides a way that Alabama hunters can give thousands of pounds of ground venison to needy families and individuals in the state.

Alabama's Three-Buck Limit

Beginning with the 2007–2008 hunting season, Alabama's big-game hunters will be required to keep a record of their buck and turkey harvests. Learn about this new regulation.
