HuntingAlabama Hunter Education Course—Contact Sylvia Payne at 1-800-262-3151 or sylvia.payne@dcnr.alabama.gov for details. Deer Hunting—This course covers the biology and habits of the white-tailed deer. Equipment, clothing, camouflage, hunting techniques and safety considerations will be discussed. Outdoor session will include scouting, treestand use and safety. Note: only offered in October session.
Squirrel Hunting— Course includes an actual hunt! Ten lucky participants will begin their day Saturday with a squirrel hunt from daylight until breakfast. Session continues after breakfast where you will learn to field dress and prepare the squirrels for the table. Learn the whole process and cap things off by tasting a sample of your harvest. Only pre-requisite is enthusiasm and an Alabama Hunting License. Safety instructions, guides and firearms will be provided. Note: only offered in October session. Talkin’ Turkey—This course covers the biology and habits of the wild turkey. Equipment, clothing, camouflage, hunting strategies, calling techniques, and safety considerations will be discussed. Outdoor session will include examination of turkey sign in the woods. Note: only offered in March session. Waterfowling—This class will introduce participants to the techniques of hunting migratory birds. Learn strategies for calling and luring. This will include gear selection, decoy placement and blind construction. Note: only offered in October session. |
