Southwest Alabama Regional Forestry Day, October 1, 2008

Pictures of the Southwest Alabama Regional Forestry Day and pond management program are presented below. Participating agencies include the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Alabama Forestry Association, Alabama Forestry Commission, Alabama Natural Resources Council, Alabama Treasure Forest Association, Certified Family Forest, Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Soil and Water Conservation District. Doug Darr, Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division lectures about pond management.


Dr. Saloom's pond is seined to determine the balance of bass to bluegill.

 


The small fish caught with the seine are assessed for size and species composition.

 
In addition to the fish caught, Doug Darr holds a dragonfly nymph.

 

 
An excellent lunch was served during the event.

 


Vendors and agencies shared their knowledge with participants of the workshop.
