Students learn about watersheds.
After the EnviroScape is sprinked with cocoa representing soil and green Kool-Aid representing fertilizer, the rain comes in a spray bottle, which washes the non-point source pollution into the waters.
Students learn about stream ecology as they walk over the bridge.
Mr. Jackson explains that even small dams like this mill dam prevents fish and other aquatic animals from moving upstream. The dam also holds dirt and fills up will dirt.
The grist mill ground corn into meal and wheat into flour.
Student look at Bubbling Springs which is where groundwater becomes surface water.
The gate on the left can allow water to go down the flume on the middle right and onto the water wheel to power the grist mill.
Mr. Jackson stand is the spring to explain groundwater and recharge.
