Bryant Chapel A.M.E Youth are Introduced to Fishing, May 2011

Sport Fish Restoration

Church members assist youth with their casting techniques.   Gloria Jackson explains the parts to a fishing reel.
After a softball game, a young man practices a new found skill. For safety reasons youth are taught to stand in the hula-hoop. The hula-hoop represents their safety circle. Teaching youth casting techniques builds their confidence towards wanting to learn more about the world of fishing.
Backyard bass were used as targets. Students take aim at the backyard bass.
The first person who catches the backyard bass wins. The winner of the backyard bass competition. Fishing can be fun and competitive.
The females won the casting competition. Frustrated, a young male forgoes his rod and catches his backyard bass bare handed. This young lady won the distance casting competition.
Fishing ethics were discussed.
Knot tying can be fun.
