Ms. Boyd's AP Environmental Sciences Class from Prattville High School took a field trip to the Alabama Wildlife Federation headquarters to learn about  aquatic invertebrates, water quality testing, catfish, fish tagging and population estimation.

PHS students collect some water to test for pH, chloride, nitrate and total ammonia.

Water temperature measuring takes a while, because the thermometer has to stabilize.

Some results are based upon the color of the chemical reaction.

Ms. Rebecca Bearden of the Alabama Wildlife Federation helps a student with the color assessment.

The deck at Lanark's catfish pond is a good place for testing pond water.
