Interpretive
Active education of the public is a key mission of Weeks Bay Reserve. The stewardship program helps in this mission by continually improving exhibits and outreach initiatives.
Interpretive Center
Weeks Bay Reserve's 4000 square foot interpretive center houses the reserve staff, library and research collections as well as the interpretive and educational facilities. Displays at the Interpretive Center are of ecological, historical, archaeological, live and preserved specimens that are indenginous to the Mobile Bay-Weeks Bay area. These exhibits are state of the art in quality and provide a glimpse of the Reserve programs of research, education, and stewardship. PowerPoint presentations are available in the lobby highlighting staff efforts in areas of education, research, monitoring, watershed protection, partnership building, and stewardship. Backlit displays provide information on issues of great importance to protecting the environment and promoting stewardship in the community and throughout the Weeks Bay watershed. Upon reviewing the presentations and displays at the Interpretive Center, one can gain a glimpse into the issues of the Weeks Bay Coastal Area and the concerns of the staff that will guide the direction of future programs at the Reserve.
