The Alabama State Lands Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has formulated a Program Implementation Strategy for the Alabama Coastal and Estuarine Land Conservation Program. The Alabama Coastal and Estuarine Land Conservation Program (CELCP) is a federally sponsored land acquisition program administered through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Alabama has prepared a DRAFT Program Implementation Strategy to describe the State’s priorities for land acquisition in the designated coastal watersheds. Copies of the Draft Plan are available at the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources web page www.outdooralabama.com, and are available at the Coastal Section Office in Fairhope. The State Lands Division will accept comments from the public through
June 15, 2005 before preparing a final plan that will be submitted to NOAA for federal approval.
A public information meeting will be held on
Thursday, June 9, 2005 at the Killian Room of the
International
Trade
Center in
Mobile. At this meeting, State Lands Division Staff will provide a brief overview of the CELCP program strategy, answer questions about the plan and accept formal comments.
