Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CIAP) Management and Implementation

 

State Lands Division staff manages and implements the CIAP for the State of Alabama. The CIAP is a $13.2 million federally funded program under the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) designed to mitigate for impacts from Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) activities. Specifically, the State of Alabama CIAP is comprised of a series of thirty-five (35) projects, approved by the Governor and the Secretary of Commerce, aimed at conserving and enhancing natural resources in the two (2) coastal counties. The SLD administers all contracts associated with the CIAP and coordinates closely with NOAA to ensure program compliance.
