Timber Salvage

Timber Salvage

Currently, the State Lands Division sells certain damaged, diseased or right-of-way timber, which does not exceed $500.00 in value, on a negotiated basis. This current value threshold serves as an impediment to proper land management where timber is damaged by storms or insect infestation.

In this current legislative session, legislation was introduced to address this issue as HB 33 and SB236. It has passed the House and has had its first reading in the Senate. Currently it is in the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry committee and is awaiting its Second Reading in the Senate.
