COOSA WMA HANCOCK PHASE II in comprised of 842 acres in Coosa County and consists of Mountain Longleaf habitat interspersed by hardwood drains and pine plantations within the Weogufka Creek watershed. All of the land lies within the Coosa Wildlife Management Area, one of Alabama’s oldest established public hunting areas. The property is thought to be able to support federally listed endangered red-cockaded woodpeckers (Picoides borealis) that are known to occur on the adjacent land.
