PERDIDO RIVER-LONGLEAF HILLS TRACT in Baldwin County consists of 2,310 acres of wetlands and uplands along the Perdido River. The tract is comprised of 60% forested wetland habitats supporting an Atlantic white-cedar community within a unique blackwater stream corridor, which is bordered by an upland pine-sandhill forest favoring a longleaf pine community. In partnership with the Alabama Forestry Commission and the Forever Wild Program, an additional 1,678 acres of similar forest habitat were acquired by the State Lands Division through a $1.9 Million U.S. Forest Service Forest Legacy grant. |
