Freshwater Fishing Tournaments
Tournament anglers may view tournaments on our Web site, and tournament organizers may submit their tournaments to ADCNR. This allows boaters and tournament planners to reduce conflicts. This is not a reservation system, but a way to let people know about events. If you have questions or comments about this system, please contact Doug Darr at Doug.Darr@dcnr.alabama.gov.
The Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division does not permit nor deny tournaments, but the Marine Police Division does require permits for any boating event expecting 100 or more boats (including bass tournaments)with more than 100 boats participating). Applications can be obtained from the Alabama Marine Police free of charge by contacting Subrena Davis at (334) 242-3630. Applications must be completed and submitted to them at least 15 days prior to the event.
The US Army Corps of Engineers lakes on the Black Warrior and Tombigbee rivers offers a wide variety of parks from north of Tuscaloosa south to Jackson. "Special events are allowed with a permit. Some of these activities include fishing tournaments, boat races, weddings, graduations, etc. For events that impact or restrict normal public use of the project a $50 non-refundable fee is required. Reservation of an entire park will not be permitted. Applications should be submitted at least 30 days prior to the event." "Fishing tournaments of 10 boats or less are not required to obtain a special event permit." The USACE lakes on the Black Warrior and Tombigbee rivers are: Coffeeville, Demopolis, Warrior, Oliver, Holt and Bankhead.
