Loons - Family Gaviidae

Red-throated Loon Gavia stellata. Rare in fall, winter, and spring in all regions exceot Inland Coastal Plain, where occasional. Found on lakes, bays, and in the Gulf.

Pacific Loon Gavia pacifica. Rare in late fall, winter, and spring in Tennessee Valley and Gulf Coast regions; occasional in Mountain Region. Found on lakes, bays, and in the Gulf.

Common Loon Gavia immer. Common in winter in Tennessee Valley and Gulf Coast regions, but uncommon to rare in Inland Coastal Plain and Mountain regions. Rare to occasional in summer in all regions. Found on lakes, bays, and in the Gulf. Lowest Conservation Concern.
