Distribution: North America: Alabama, Arkansas, southern Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee (Hobbs 1989).
Alabama: Known from nine database records, all from Mobile County in the Mobile Basin.
Habitat: Ditches, marshes, swamps, lakes, ponds, and sluggish streams (Hobbs 1989).
Conservation Status: Moderate Conservation Concern.

Note: In Alabama, it is illegal to stock or move any fish, mussel, snail or crayfish to any public water without a permit.
