Curtis Jones Named ADCNR Assistant Commissioner

February 08, 2011

Curtis Jones of Pike Road, Ala. has been named Assistant Commissioner for the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR). Governor Robert Bentley appointed Jones to work with N. Gunter Guy Jr., who was recently named Commissioner of the state agency.

Jones is retired from Alabama Power Company where he served in a number of capacities including Division Manager for External Affairs. Most recently he was an associate real estate broker with John Hall & Company where he dealt in timberland and recreational property.

As Assistant Commissioner, Jones says one of his priorities will be to increase the revenue ADCNR receives from the public’s use of the state’s numerous state resources. “We have tremendous natural resources here in Alabama, and we need to be more proactive and promote them,” he said.

Jones is a native of Alabama and is an active hunter and angler. He attended Auburn University, where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. Jones is active in a number of organizations including the Alabama Wildlife Federation, and previously served on the City/County Personnel Board, Montgomery Chamber of Commerce Boards, YMCA-Metro Board, the Montgomery Lions Club, the Montgomery Zoological Society and Jubilee Cityfest. He has two children and four grandchildren.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries. To learn more about ADCNR, visit www.outdooralabama.com.
