Emergency Amendment Addresses Bow Hunting For Turkey

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announces an emergency amendment to Rule No. 220-2-.02-.131ER “Legal Arms, Ammunition, and Methods for Hunting” to clarify the regulations concerning turkey hunting with bows.

The amendment provides for the use of long bows and compound bows for turkey hunting, and prohibits the use of crossbows for turkey hunting. This emergency amendment is necessary to make this rule conform to the provisions of Rule 220-2-.01 which established a closed season to the use of crossbows for turkey hunting.

The amendment was signed by Conservation Commissioner M. Barnett Lawley on October 20, 2004, and became effective when filed with the Legislative Reference Service on October 21, 2004.
