Explore the categories below to find step-by-step answers about our streamlined online processing for lifetime licenses.
What is One Outdoor?
OneOutdoor is the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR )'s new online licensing system for hunting licenses, fishing licenses, and other permits. The development of the system is in partnership with OneOutdoor and Tyler Technologies. The system allows customers to create a secure online account to purchase licenses, report harvests, view their license history, update personal information, and complete many licensing-related transactions.
Why did ADCNR change licensing systems?
ADCNR implemented OneOutdoor to provide customers with a more modern, secure, and user-friendly licensing experience. The new system improves online account management, expands customer self-service options, and provides additional features not available under the previous licensing system.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Account Management
- Do I need to create a new account if I already have an Outdoor Alabama profile?
- Your existing records are safe! For security reasons, you will not need to start from scratch. Starting July 16, 2026, you will simply use your permanent Conservation ID to log into the new system, verify your current contact details, and claim your modernized dashboard. All your historical data will automatically carry over. Your conservation ID can be found on a previous license purchase or in the OutdoorAL App. New account creation is a one-time process.
- Do I need an email address to create a OneOutdoor account?
- Yes. A valid email address is required to create a OneOutdoor account. Your email address is used to verify your account, recover your password, and receive important account notifications.
- Can my spouse and I share the same account?
- No. Each customer must have their own individual OneOutdoor account. Accounts are associated with an individual customer’s information, licenses, and harvest history.
Payment, Security, & Auto-Renew
- Will my saved credit card information transfer over to the new system?
- No. For your security, credit card information and saved payment methods cannot be migrated from the old system to the new platform. The first time you make a purchase, set up auto-renewal on the new system after August 24, 2026, you will need to manually enter your preferred payment information. Once entered, you can securely save it for future transactions.
- If I had Auto-Renew set up on the old system, do I need to turn it on again?
- Yes. Because credit card data cannot be transferred to the new platform, any existing auto-renewal preferences will be reset. When you log in to verify your account and make your first renewal on the new dashboard, simply toggle the "Auto-Renew" switch at checkout and input your payment details to re-enroll your privileges for future seasons.
Eligibility Documentation
- Do I have to go to the probate office or mail in paperwork to have my eligibility approved?
- Only if you want to! You can submit your documentation online through the OneOutdoor System. Eligibilities give you pre-approval for licenses that have special requirements, such as a 100% SSA Disability rating, various levels of VA Disability, or Military Exemptions. You will be able to apply for these eligibilities directly through the platform by filling out the appropriate online form. Please note that some applications require you to upload supporting paperwork, and certain eligibilities may have an expiration date. Once submitted, DCNR staff will review and approve applications during normal business hours. After you are approved, you can purchase any associated licenses instantly while your eligibility remains active, with no further paperwork required. Additionally, to make this transition easier, several of these eligibilities have already been automatically awarded to qualified users during our recent data migration process.
Mobile App & Digital Access
- Do I need to download a completely new mobile app?
- No, you will not need to search for a new app. The existing Outdoor Alabama mobile app will receive an automatic update in July to seamlessly connect with the new backend platform. Once updated, you can log in with your verified credentials to see your new dashboard. If your app does not work as expected, please redownload the app to receive the new version.
- Can I still show my license digitally if I lose cell service in the field?
- Yes. The upgraded system includes an enhanced offline mode. Once you log in to the updated app while connected to cellular data or Wi-Fi, your digital license is securely cached on your device. Game Wardens can verify this digital copy in the field, even if you are completely off the grid in a remote WMA or river swamp. With that said, it is always important to have a printed copy with you in case the system is not connecting properly.
Lifetime Licenses
- Will Lifetime Licenses, including the new Lifetime Disabled Resident License, be available on this platform?
- Yes. For the first time, lifetime hunting and fishing licenses will be available for purchase online, including the newly legislated Lifetime Disabled Resident Licenses, which will be available for direct processing and management within the digital platform starting July 16, 2026.
Harvest History, HIP, Certifications & Education
- How does this affect my free Harvest Information Program (HIP) status?
- Just like before, the federal government requires all migratory bird hunters (doves, ducks, geese, woodcock, etc.) to register for HIP annually. You will still be able to add your free HIP certification to your cart with a single click during your annual renewal process on the new dashboard.
- Will my hunting/fishing history, Game Check, and Snapper Check records be lost?
- Not at all. We know how important harvest history and hunter education records are to our hunters and anglers. All historical data—including past Game Check and Snapper Check confirmations, Hunter Education certifications, and vessel information—is being securely migrated into the new Tyler Technologies and OneOutdoors platform.
- Will my Hunter Safety Education number transition to the new system?
- In most cases, yes! Your verified hunter education certification will automatically transition to your new profile during the data migration. However, we strongly encourage all hunters to log into their modernized dashboard after July 15 to verify that their Hunter Safety number is displayed correctly.
- If your number is missing or you need help locating it, you can instantly search the state database or request a duplicate card by visiting the ADCNR Hunter Education Card Replacement Portal.
Commercial Saltwater Licenses
- Will commercial saltwater licenses be available on the new system?
- Not at first. The system will start selling commercial licenses on Sept. 1, 2026. If you need a commercial license prior to Sept. 1, you will need to visit one of the Marine Resources Offices in Mobile or Baldwin Counties.
- Marine Resources (Mobile County), 2 N Iberville Drive, AL 36528 – Phone (251) 861-2882
- Marine Resources (Baldwin County), 999 Commerce Blvd., Gulf Shores, AL 36547 – Phone (251) 968-7576

Snapper Check
- Will I be able to report my saltwater harvest through Snapper Check?
- Yes. You are required to report your Red Snapper, Amberjack, and Trigger fish. When you report your harvest, the harvest will be held in a queue until the new OneOutdoor System is online shortly after July 15. When the OneOutdoor system is up and running, you will receive a confirmation of your harvest.
