The Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) announces the temporary closure of the Barbour Wildlife Management Area (WMA) campgrounds.
The temporary closure is due to the repaving of Christa Drive, one of the WMA’s entrance roads. The repaving project is anticipated to be completed in late October 2026. All other entrance roads to the Barbour WMA will open on September 1. A reopening date for the campgrounds will be announced on the WFF Facebook page when available.
Hunting seasons will open on the scheduled dates and times listed on the Barbour WMA map permit, Outdoor AL mobile app, and online at outdooralabama.com.
WMA map permits and daily permits will be available at the Barbour WMA Shooting Range kiosk. Hunters can also continue to utilize the Outdoor AL app to check in and out of the WMA.
ADCNR promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through four divisions: Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries. Learn more at outdooralabama.com.
