Two prescribed burns are planned to take place at Lakepoint State Park in Eufaula, Alabama, sometime between Tuesday, January 19 and March 2021, weather permitting.
The first planned burn will take place in an area of recently planted longleaf pine located near the campground. The second burn will take place in an area adjacent to the lodge and cabins. Every effort is being made to ensure safety and proper smoke management during the burns. This project complies with a permit from the Alabama Forestry Commission.
Prescribed fire is an effective way to reduce wildfire risk, enhance wildlife habitat and maintain a healthy forest ecosystem. For more information about the benefits of prescribed fire, visit www.outdooralabama.com.
