Road End Public Boat Ramp on Harris Reservoir to Receive New Launching Slab

The Road End (Big Fox) Public Boat ramp on Harris Reservoir in Randolph County, Alabama, will temporarily close for renovation on February 6, 2023. The facility is expected to reopen when the work is completed in April 2023, weather permitting.

During the closure, the Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) will replace the current damaged launching slab to allow for safe loading and unloading of vessels. Additionally, Alabama Power recently expanded the facility’s parking lot and installed restrooms.

ADCNR operates five additional boat ramps on Harris Reservoir. Anglers and boaters who would like more information about these and other public boating access areas provided by ADCNR can visit https://boatramps.dcnr.alabama.gov/ or call the WFF Fisheries Section at (334) 242-3471.

Funding for this project was obtained through the Sport Fish Restoration Program, which is supported through excise taxes on the sale of outboard motor fuel and fishing equipment and through the sale of Alabama fishing licenses.

ADCNR promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama’s natural resources through four divisions: Marine Resources, State Lands, State Parks, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries. Learn more at outdooralabama.com.
