Freshwater Fishing Recreational Licenses-Resident

You can click the 'PURCHASE LICENSES' to use the online sales system to purchase license, pay with a debit/credit card and immediately print your license. Recreational licenses expire August 31.

Alabama Residents can fish from the bank in their county of residence with hook and line without purchasing a license. Resident must be able to provide reasonable proof of residency (driver's license) while fishing.

Alabama Residents 65 years of age and over are exempt from purchasing the following licenses:

Hunting (does not include bait privilege or nighttime feral swine or coyote hunting)
Freshwater Fishing
Saltwater Fishing (does not include angler registry or reef fish endorsement)
State Duck Stamp
Wildlife Management Area

Optional 65+ licenses are available to provide a way for those exempt that wish to continue purchasing annual licenses to support wildlife and fisheries programs. To immediately issue and print your license, click 'Purchase Licenses'.

Most recreational licenses below can be purchased online, at your local Probate Office or License Commissioner, license agents, WFF District Offices or Montgomery Office and by calling 1-888-848-6887.

Freshwater Fishing - $17.00

RESIDENT 64 LIFETIME LICENSES – issued to residents 64 years of age for the cost of an annual recreational hunting, freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing or WMA license

OPTIONAL 65+ LICENSES – issued to residents 65 years of age or older for the cost of an annual recreational hunting, freshwater fishing, saltwater fishing, WMA licenses and state duck stamp for those who wish to continue to contribute.

FRESHWATER PUBLIC FISHING LAKES DAILY LICENSE - Valid only in the State-owned county Public Fishing Lakes. (Not valid in the major rivers and lakes.) - $7.65lakes.) - $7.65

WILDLIFE HERITAGE LICENSE - Allows fishing in freshwater statewide with hook and line from the bank; fishing in WFF operated Public Fishing Lakes (daily lake permits required); hunting small game, except waterfowl, on WFF WMA (WMA map/permit required); and shooting on WFF managed shooting ranges. Included at no charge with resident hunting and freshwater fishing licenses. - $13.95

SPEARFISHING – freshwater or saltwater fishing licenses also required - $6.00

WIREBASKET - Required of all ages. Not available in all counties. Call your local Probate Office. - Prices Vary

LIFETIME LICENSES (youth licenses under 16 years of age available at probate offices, Montgomery or District Offices)

LIFETIME FISHING - Prices vary (prices increase each September 1st annually)

Many Organizations now give away lifetime licenses at youth hunting and fishing events. Use this application for those lifetime license winners.
